Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

Mongi Gueddas, the owner of Dar Hayet Hotel, believes firmly in the importance of education. Gueddas commenced the construction of a primary school in a rural area where children previously had to walk more than 8 kilometres to reach the nearest school. Because of the initiative taken by Gueddas, children now have the opportunity go to school during the winter.

The construction of the school encouraged the local authorities to bring electricity to the rural area and consequently developed roads to make the village more accessible.

Now, some of the children who were given the opportunity in 1987 to attend primary school have joined universities and the hotel remains active in education.
