Experience the city's culture and excitement in the souk that is famous for its carpets, the Great Mosque, the 9th century built Mosque of the Three Doors, the Sidi Abid and Sidi Abada Museums or the well-known Bir Barrouta which has a camel rotating around a well that is said to communicate with the water in Mecca's sacred well.
Kairouan was proclaimed the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2009 for Education, Science and Culture on March 8.
